Park track still fast
Disused for four years or not, English Park retains its old magic speed for track cycling.
The track surface — be-! fore it became too wet to continue — is probably not a great deal worse than in the days before the 1974 i Commonwealth Games when I it was in regular use. And last evenings meeting! in a stiff easterly breeze —‘ hardly felt because of the; natural shelter — showed i that New Zealand records’ may still fall. In the much-abbreviated! programme, there were brisk! 400 m times from Gavin Sutherland (29.35) and Brent Kircher (30.65) and Craig Adair had a 32.2 s in a B novice event.
He was one of three to have two wins: the others were also novices, Shane Smith and Michael Cummack. Results: — AMATEUR
