Squash award to Brownlee
PA Auckland For the second successive year Bruce Brownlee, of Rotorua, has been named New Zealand squash player of the year. The announcement was made at a dinner last night, organised by the Royal Oak Club, with the proceeds going to the New Zealand Neurological Foundation.
Badminton.—The world champion Flemming Delfs, of Denmark, beat Thomas Kihlstrom of Sweden, 12-15. 15-7, 15-10, in the men’s singles final of the Canadian open badminton championships in Toronto.
Golf. — Leonard Thompson turned back a spectacular drive by the rookie Curtis Strange with a solid, three-under-par 68 and scored a two-stroke victory in the Pensacola open golf tournament. J. C. Snead was third.
