Low-price Games tour with five exciting stopovers

“The Press” has organised a specially designed low-price supporters’ tour to Canada for the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton next year. The 23-day tour will include 12 days at Edmonton for the duration of the Games, with stopovers at Nandi, Vancouver, Banff, Los Angeles, and Honolulu.

Highlights will include a 20-hour journey by train from Vancouver through the Rockies to Banff and a 170-mile air-conditioned coach trip along the magnificent Icefields Parkway to Jasper.

The cost of this escorted tour includes: • All air fares (economy class) from Christchurch back to Christchurch.

• Rail fare from Vancouver to Banff on a sleeper-berth basis. • All accommodation, including 11 nights at Edmonton. • All coach travel, transfers to and from hotels, and sightseeing where specified. • Canadian and United States hotel taxes. • Complimentary tickets to Disneyland.

On a share-twin basis, with private facilities, the tour will cost only $1769, plus $B7 travel tax. Where three people agree to share a room with private facilities, the cost will be reduced to $1599, plus $B7 travel tax. A single room with private facilities will be $2199, plus $B7 travel tax. The cost for children under 12 where accompanied by parents will be $1049, plus $43.50 travel tax.

The tour cost does not include meals or admission to the Games. Application forms for tickets and details of venues will be sent to readers who post in the coupon from the advertisement below.

Members of the tour will fly out of Christchurch with Air New Zealand for Nandi on Friday, July 28. The first night will be at Fiji’s top resort, the luxurious Regent Hotel. Much of the following day will be available for duty-free shopping—an ideal opportunity to Buy a new camera for recording the tour, and the Games, on film. The tour will leave Nandi at 4.20 p.m. with CP Air for Vancouver, arriving there at 10 a.m. the same day. After two days of sightseeing in this beautiful city of British Columbia, the group will board CP Rail’s famous “Canadian” for the unforgettable journey through the Rockies to Banff.

On Wednesday, August 2, the party will travel by air-conditioned coach along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper and Edmonton for the first of 11 nights in the Best Western Lodge Motel. The official opening of the Games will be the following day. On the day after the Games end, Sunday, August 13, the tour will fly from Edmonton across the Rockies to Vancouver and Los Angeles for two nights at Anaheim, allowing a full day at Disneyland. Then, on the evening of Tuesday, August 15, the group will fly to Hawaii for three relaxing days at Honolulu, staying at the Waikiki Outrigger Hotel.

The tour will return to Christchurch on the afternoon of Sunday, August 20.

Readers interested in receiving additional information and conditions, should fill in and post the coupon in the advertisement below. Because of difficulty in securing accommodation in Edmonton and booking on airlines at the time of the Games, the tour will be limited in size. Allocation will be made as confirmed bookings are received.
