A delighted Jackie Brewer, aged 10, has high hopes of a major prize as she holds the token she found in the sand at New Brighton on Saturday. With her is her father, Mr M. Brewer, of Halswell. Hundreds of people took part in the “Big Dig” project organised by the Lions Clubs and the New Brighton Businessmen’s Association to raise money for the stage sound system for the new pedestrian mall at New Brighton. Jackie did not win a major prize. For her efforts she received a can of air freshener.
