Delegates have wide interests
What do a farmer, a schoolmaster, a barrister, an actor, and a company director have in common?
They are all British, they are all Parliamentarians, and they are all in Christchurch at the end of a whirlwind visit to New Zealand as part of a traditional exchange under the auspices of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. The British delegation is led by Mr William Ross, a former Labour spokesman on Scottish affairs, who is the schoolmaster in tire group. He has been a member of Parliament since 1946. Others in the party are Messrs R. McMillan Bell, the barrister, who is a Conservative member of Parliament; Andrew Faulds (Labour), perhaps better known for his extensive acting in films and television shows such as “Danger Man,” “Maigret,” and “Loma Doone;” John Wakeham (Conservative), an accountant and company director; Jerry Wiggin (Conservative), a farmer; and Joseph Harper (Labour), a miner. The delegation will visit Lincoln College this morning, attend a Mayoral reception this evening, and leave for Honolulu via Auckland on Wednesday. They arrived in New Zea-
land on October 19 and have travelled throughout the country, stopping off for visits to factories, research centres, and resorts, and talks with New ■ Zealand politicians. Expenses for the delegation’s stay have been met by the New Zealand Government
