London market tunas easy

Prices eased on the London Stock Exchange last week; Government bonds were as much a half point lower, with operators apparently apprehensive. Dealers said prices were pushed down in part by profit-taking as some operators seemed to have overbought. Trading was very quiet, and an industrial dispute at British Oxygen did not help sentiment. Leading industrials mostly showed losses of a penny or two but a few gains were seen.

Golds continued to hold firm, with heavyweights gaining as much as one and a half points. U.S. and Canadian issues eased. Australian shares ended the week on a mixed note; banks and stores were appreciably up, but miners were lower.

Closing prices on Friday of a selection of shares were:—
