Better N.I. viewing

PA Wellington Television in the central North Island has been improved with the installation of new TVI translators and the provision of a TV2 service for Taupo. The B.C.N.Z. transmission superintendent for the Bay Of Plenty (Mr W. A. Williams) said it was necessary to change the TVI service from channel 6 to Channel 5 in preparation for the commissioning of the Mount

Edgecombe station next year. The TV2 station was partly paid for by money raised under the auspices of the Taupo TV2 Translator Society, said Mr Williams. The TV2 translator would provide local coverage and was an interim Installation pending an alternative site to Mount Tauhara being found for the permanent TVI and TV2 transmitters to serve the greater Taupo district.
