Tender accepted for Kaikoura school
Parliamentary reporter The Canterbury Education Board has been authorised to accept the tender of $1,369,227 submitted by M. L. Paynter, Ltd, for constrction of the new Form I to VII high school at Kaikoura. This was the lowest of the five tender prices received for the main building contract, in addition to which the board will arrange separate items of work. This was announced by the member of Parliament for Marlborough. Mr E. G. Latter, on information
from the Minister of Education (Mr Gandar). The proposed contract calls for the construction of a staff and administrative building, a teaching block of 13 rooms, an arts and crafts block of three rooms, a library, and a combination general purpose hail-gymnasium. It is expected that the contract could be completed during 1979 when the Form I to VII pupils would be able to transfer to the new complex, leaving the present shared accommodation to be altered to up-to-date standards for a Primer 1 to Standard 4 school.
