N.Z. pair convicted in Perth

NZPA Perth Two New Zealanders have been convicted in Perth on drug charges — nine months after narcotics agents swooped on a yacht in the Shark Bay area of Western Australia. A District Court jury took about two hours to find Sonya Gloria Turner, of Napier, and Kevin John Lampshire guilty of importing and possessing cannabis. They had denied the charges. Another New Zealander, Peter Lawrence Miller, who was also on board the yacht, had earlier pleaded guilty to importing cannabis. The Crown alleged that the total cannabis involved in the offences was 143 kg and was worth about $1.25M.
