| The services of the New Zealand-domiciled French-bred sire. Trictrac, have been offered to Northern Hemisphere breeders following the success of his progeny. Balmerino. The authoritative racing daily newspaper “Sporting Life” said yesterday the stallion’s services would be offered to a restricted number -of mares. New Zealand jumpers continued to be praised. On Monday Lanka — the latest in a line of New Zealand hurdlers imported to Britain — won at 10 to 1. Lanka's trainer. Peter Bailey,, said the New Zealand horses were “remarkably tough and need only a short period of acclimatisation”
The limited stabling given to horses in New Zealand was “a very’ unusual method by our standards . . but it certainly produces very' strong and resolute horses.”
