Fish supply better

Supplies of fresh fish in Christchurch have been improving slowly during the last few weeks, but there is still a lack of variety offered in the shops. A long week-end and a spell of windy weather have had an adverse effect on fish supplies but retailers hope jhis will improve bv the end of this week. Gurnard and sole are the two lines which are predominant at the moment. Gurnard is selling for S 3 kg to

s3.2okg, while sole fillets are about s4kg. Flounder, now at $2.20 to s2.4okg, is unlikely to go any lower in price. Supplies of cod are still poor, considering that it is almost November. Deep-sea cod and Akaroa cod are about $3 to s3.3okg. Groper steaks are selling about s3.6okg and fillets are s3.Bokg in city fish shops. Tarakini, also in limited supply, is about s3.3okg for fillets.
