Security bill
Sir, — I would like to commend Helen Hervey on her letter in “The Press” last Friday. She has apparently gone to the bother of getting the full truth of what it is all about. It was rather disturbing to hear a young student speaking over television during a protest march and saying the freedom of people was in jeopardy. She could be given the full facts if she would care to inquire. Some leaders seem to be trying to incite suspicion on the purpose of the bill. If we have nothing to hide and want a good New Zealand, why any fear? Let us all seek the truth and give it full support. — Yours, C. LEMON, Leeston. October 16, 1977. Sir, — If your correspondent W. Rosenberg lived in North Korea (a country he champions) and he publicly endeavoured to promote legislation that as severely restricted the operations of the secret police as the amendment to the S.I.S. bill restricts our service, he would, at best, end his days in a psychiatric hospital. — Yours, etc., J.
