Connors beats Ramirez
NZPA-Reuter Kaanapali Jimmy Connors, of the United States, beat Rau) Ramirez, of Mexico. 7-5. 6-7, 6-2, yesterday in the semi-finals of the $lOO,OOO Island Holidays tennis classic, but said he should have won it in two sets. The match lasted almost three hours, and Ramirez wilted after winning the second-set tiebreaker, 9-11. Connors took the third set, losing ordy two games, in just 35 minutes. In the other semi-final match, the second seed. Brian Gottfried, of the U.S., won. 4-6. 6-1, 6-4. over the unseeded John Lloyd, of Britain.
