Hunt proves squash form

NZPA Perth Australia’s world squash champion, Geoff Hunt, opened his 1977 home campaign in good style with a straight sets victory in the §6OOO Beneficial Finance classic at Dinella on Sunday. Hunt took the final and the 81400 first prize with a 9-6, 9-5, 9-3 victory over his closest rival, the world number two player. Mohibullah Khan (Pakistan), in 58 minutes.

The 30-year-old Hunt gave ample proof of his superb fitness and control on a squash court when he kept

his Pakistani rival under pressure for most of the game. It was Hunt’s third straight victory over Mohibullah Khan and has set the scene for some tough clashes between the pair as they continue on the Australian circut with the $40,000 world open in Adelaide later this month as the highlight. In tile play-off for third place Qamar Zaman (Pakistan) justified his number three ranking by beating G.ogi Alauddm (Pakistan) 9-7, 9-3, 9-0.
