But the Dutch ketch Flyer, which is her nearest rival, is the leader on handicap, race control at Portsmouth reported yesterday. Race control said that according to latest information, the leaders, on handicap, were: Flyer (Cornelius van Rietschoten, Netherlands) 1, King’s Legend (Nick Ratcliffe, Great Britain) 2, Disque Dor (Pierre Fehlmann, Switzerland) 3, Gauloises II (Eric Loiseau, France) 4. Traite de Rome (Philippe Hanin, entered by E.E.C.) 5, Great Britain II (Robert James, Great Britain) 6. The scratch boat, Condor, of Britain, is still held up !at Monrovia, Liberia, awaiting repairs to her damaged mast. Her skipper, Les Williams, had the choices of making repairs and proceeding to Cape Town under storm main and stay-sail, wthdrawing from the first leg and using the engine to get to Cape Town, or awaiting a new mast from England and rejoining the race.
