Judicial post in colony

NZPA Hong Kong Mr Ross Penlington, a lawyer employed by the Hong Kong Government, and formerly of Christchurch, has been appointed a district court judge in the colony — equivalent to appointment to the magistracy in New Zealand. He is well known in the colony for his legal work in connection with the Hong Kong Government’s efforts to stamp out corruption. Mr Penlington was associated with the prosecution of a former senior police officer, Joseph Godber, who was convicted on corruption charges involving millions of Hong Kong dollars.
