Settlement reached
A report in “The Press” vesterdav morning incorrectly said that Mr Justice Roper had ruled that the Trans Tours United player, Bill Arney had been unjustly suspended by the Canterbury Football Association’s judicial committee and that he had ordered the C.F.A. to pay $l5O in Court costs.
His Honour made no such j ruling. The C.F.A. decided ■ not to defend the claim I brought by Mr Arney, ati tacking the validity of the 1 suspension.
| The parties reached a ! settlement in which the I C.F.A. agreed to treat the I suspension decision as of no effect and to pay $l5O in I costs to Mr Arney.
! The C.F.A. took legal ad- ; vice, consulted the New Zea-j land Football Association, and decided not to resist Mr jAmev’s claim that the judicial committee did not have [the power under C.F.A. rules ;to suspend him. At no time did the officers of the C.F.A. accept that Mr Amey had been treated unfairly in any other respect.
