Forty’ Carat looks to have done well since winning at the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s meeting last month. She was impressive in training at Awapuni yesterday morning in preparation for the York Farm Handicap at Marton on Saturday. On the plough, Forty Carat, and Lord Mayor went fast early then eased to complete 1000 m in Imin 3sec, the last 600 m in 40sec.

Purple Penny and Gone with the Wind set the track alight by running 600 m in 36.45ec, Purple Penny is racing well and should not be long winning a race.

Sweet Lace and Samadan! ran from the 800 m in 50sec, the last 600 m in 37sec, and Mr Vulacan worked with Kirstie over 1000 m in Imin ssec, the last 600 m in 40sec. Bed Time and Danish Lady, from the Bull stable, ran 800 m in 53sec, the last 600 m in 39.65ec, and Shilo ran from the 600 m in 42sec. Taiphilae ran an easy 600 m. Miss Chandy was timed over 1200 m in Imin 18sec, the last 600 m clear of Itinerant Trader in 39sec. Gen-

trice took 54sec for 800 m the final 600 m in 40sec. Kindled and Lutetia covered 800 m in 51.6 sec, the last 600 m in 38.2 sec. Gold Arc was most impressive galloping 800 in in 50.6 sec, the last 600 m in 37.65ec. Gold Arc looks to be thriving. She may race at Wanganui and then in the Gold Trail Stakes.

On the course proper, Silver Strike looked extra well shading Fraxy over 800 m in 52.45ec, the last 600 m in 38.4 sec. Fraxy was having only his second gallop He looks in great order but won’t resume until Trentham. Kirressive covered 1000 m 'in Imin 7.Bsec, the last 600 m in 39.55ec, and Peteken ran an easy 1200 m in Imin 26sec, the last 600 m in 42sec.

Chitral shaded Archippus over 1000 m in Imin Bsec, the last 600 m in 40sec, with Chitral working in her best style. Dharwar, Secrete and Morning Chat took Imin 23sec for 1200 m, the last 600 m in 41.4 sec, and Honey Tower recorded 58.6 sec for 800 in the last 600 m in 42.55ec.
