|NZPA Sydney Despite the downturn in the New South Wales building industry, Boral, Ltd, in* creased net profit 42.1 per cent to sAustl6,9lB,ooo in the year to June 30. The directors of the building materials group are recommending a one-for-five scrip issue, and the new shares will be eligible for the payment of the steady final dividend of 6.25 c a 'share.

The higher profit was attributed to more efficient utilisation of facilities, and the control of costs.

Group sales rose 11.5 pet cent to $250.8M. The smaller ready-mix concrete division experienced a further decline in [New South Wales and static trading conditions in Victoria and South Australia.
