nesday: Introduction to wildlife in the Gardens. Play, “The Hare and the Tortoise,” at the Repertory Theatre. Performances this week: Tuesday to Friday, 7 p.m„ concludes 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3. Wharenui covered, heated, swimming pool open daily, 10 a.m. *0 noon, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Willowbank Wild Life Reserve, Husseys Road (off Gardiners Road), Harewood. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thirteen acres, with monkeys, pumas, deer, a camel, a llama. Orana Park Wildlife Reserve open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feeding at 2.30 p.m. Y.M.C.A., city, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m„ gym clinics, registration at “Y”. Mini basketball for 9 to 12-year-olds, 1 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Workshop 111 puppet making and performing, until Friday, Arts Centre, Worcester Street. Children eight to 14 years. Upper Riccarton Methodist Church: Until Thursday, 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. “Hi Neighbour” holiday programme for entire family. $1.20 per child for four mornings; maximum $3 per family. Y.W.C.A., Wednesday and Thursday, training sessions at city centre, 7 p.m., in preparation for cycle venture on Port Hills next Saturday and Sunday. For 14 to 16-year-olds. Cost $l4 (includes food and cooking equipment for tha two day*).
Draughts tournament at Queen Elizabeth II Park, Tuesday to Friday. Organised by Draughts Association. Tuition available from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Mona Vale: Children’s Book Fair, featuring 319 books. Also folk dancing, puppets and story telling. Wednesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Admission free.
Holiday programme at Telford Street Hall, Linwood, for children 5 to 12 years and children under 5 years if accompanied by an adult. Includes, games, indoor activities, visits, talk by police on identifying your bicycle and “sing-along.” From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Monday to Friday. Cost, 20c a day or 50c a family. Building Centre, model aeroplane and train displays until Friday. Public Library (all activities 11 a.m. to noon); Wednesday, hat day; Thursday, film; Friday, story hour. New Brighton Library (2 p.m. to 3 p.m.), Wednesday, quiz; Thursday, stories and drawing; Friday, visit from magician. Sprevdon Library, (2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.): Wednesday, picture making; Thursday, story time; Friday, results of competition for collage or painting of favourite story character.
Sumner Library, open 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., flexible programme of picture making, story reading, and music.
