Advisory officer
Laurel Teirney, who has been appointed to the Vocational Training Council as the advisory officer (women). After training as a I draughtswomen with the Lands and Survey Department for two years, she attended the University of Canterbun,' and completed her B.Sc (Hons) in zoology in 1971. After further study
in Canada, she returned to New Zealand to teach for; six months at Taita College. During the last four years: she has been employed as a scientist with the Ministry, of Agriculture and Fisheries. Her recent duties entailed investigating the effects on' Lake Tutira of agricultural, run-off and recommending procedures aimed at rehabilitating the lake.
