Committal for trial
PA Hamilton] Wayne Ernest Patrick has; been committed for trial in the Supreme Court on seven charges connected with attacks on persons at Ngatea and Rangiriri in July. The charges include rape, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and aggravated robbery. Peter Paul Hohia, who faces the same charges as Patrick, was committed for sentence on two charges and for trial on the others. Kenneth Frederick Kiro admitted three charges related to the Rangiriri attack and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on October 1.
A three-day hearing for the deposition of evidence ended in Hamilton yesterday. Mr R. L. Young appeared for Patrick, Mr J. Haigh for Hohia, and Mr J. Milne for Kiro.
