Nauru support for Fiji
PA Wellington The president of Nauru, Bernard Dowiyogo, has supported the Fijian Prime Minister. Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, in opposing overseas union interference in Fiji’s "domestic affairs.” In a letter sent to the Fiiian Prime Minister and released by the Fiji Ministry of Information. President Dowiyogo described as “most deplorable and unwarranted” the recent ban on Fiji shipping by the New Zealand Federation for Labour and waterside and aeamen's unions.
President Dowiyogo said that the people of Nauru had once been unjustly treated by New Zealand watenide unions in a dispute over one of the Nauru shipping line ships.
