Asian junior chess starts
NZPA Manila The favoured Lebanese, Bachar Kouatly, beat the Filipino, Andronico Yap, while another Filipino, Adrian Paciis, defeated Lim Chye Seng (Singapore) to share the lead after the first round of completed matches in the first Asian junior chess championship. Two competitors in the 11-nation, two-week tournament held in the northern mountain resort city of Baguio — New Zealand's Murry Chandler and Papua New Guinea’s Stephen Knoll — have still to arrive, according to organisers.
