Good inquiry for store cattle
Yearling cattle were in particular demand at the special store cattle sale at the Addington Market yesterday. The sale drew 480 head—2Bo yearlings and 200 two-year-olds—-and lor the time of v ear, quality was reasonably good Any yearling steers and heifers in forward order met a brisk inquiry, and the market Armed s♦> to $7 a head. Best yearling steers, suitable for veal, sold to $100; average ranged from $75 to $B5. and small down to $65. Best heifers sold to $74. average at $55 to $65, and small down to $45. Small to medium two-year-old steers made up the adult cattle, and the market was fully firm on recent improved rates, particularly where the cattle had some size. Smaller cattle tended to ease a fraction toward the end. Average Angus steers sold at $l2O to $l3l, with one sale at $136; the smaller cattle ranged mainly from $lO5 to $ll5.
Most of the grown cattle went to local buyers, but in the year ling section there were regular sales to the West Coast Sales Included:— Yearling steers. —F. N. and F N.
