Situations Vacant ®New Zealand Forest Service VACANCY No. 4972 SCIENTIST OR TECHNICAL OFFICER FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE A VACANCY EXISTS in our Production Division for a mechanical engineer to work within a machinery evaluation and development team. The team approach is designed to allow the application of Forestry, Work Study and Engineering skills to the evaluation and development of forest establishment machinery and mechanised systems. The successful applicant will be expected to have ability in basic engineering skills and be able to prepare basic working drawings and sketches to allow delegation of larger jobs to specialist staff or outside firms. Proven ability in problem solving and/or development work is desirable. Experience in forestry or agriculture and an engineering degree or qualification such as N.Z.C.E. would be an advantage but are not essential. Emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to provide resourceful and imaginative engineering input to a multi-disciplinary team. Salary in accordance with qualification and experience.
