PA U anganui The Waikato rider, Trevor Discombe, bolted away with txxo victories on liis potent Y amaha 750 to win both legs of. the 1977 Wanganui Giand Prix motorcycle scries on the Blagowie circuit, Wanganui. Riding the ex-John Boote Yamaha, Discombe was m a clasSi of his own on the fast one-mile circuit to outclass a field of ’ more than 50 riders in the grand prix events. Discombe was lapping the: slower riders wdhin thice of the! 15 laps and recoided the fastest lap time of the day — sl.6sec. He Iyad the Yamaha wound up over '2lokm/h on the two main straights and there was simply no other machine to match that sort of speed. The main opposition for Discombe failed to materialise with the late scratching of Roger Freeth (Auckland), the most consistent Nexx' Zealander on the last Marlboro international circuit.
