Accent on femininity
Soft flowing fabrics and delicate colours with the accent on femininity is
how the supervisor of the Fiesta fashion team, Mrs Myra Lipman, describes Fiesta’s range of spring fashions.
Mrs Lipman, who has been in the fashion industry for seven years, five of them with Fiesta, assists the fashion buyer for Fiesta, Mr W. Lonie, when new season’s clothes are ordered.
Some of the spring range will be on display when Fiesta opens on Monday in their new shop and the rest of the spring fashions will arrive during the next three months. “The spring range is one of the nicest I have seen for a long time, with soft flowing garments that really do something for the figure,” she said.
“They are the sort of fashions that everyone enjoys wearing.”
The emphasis is on soft and flowing materials and styles, with blouson tops Silk blouses, again with and soft muslin skirts, the tie at the neck, will be important and soft laces and delicate chiffons will be all-important. The peasant look will be very fashionable this spring; not the highly elaborate peasant look seen overseas, but a look adapted to suit this coun-
Skirts this spring will be soft and flowing in muslins and soft cottons. Spring length is just below the knee — a little shorter than the lower winter hemlines.
Perhaps the biggest look for summer will be the gauchos — first seen as
popular fashion last summer. In plain or patterned fabrics, the gauchos will, be seen both as the divided skirt and as a suit. At the other end of the scale, the old favourite sa fari style has been revived for yet another summer. This tailored style suits many women and for this reason will probably continue to be popular. White, and the natural range of creams and beiges, will be the top fashion colours for spring. The new colour for the season will be hot pink — Paris fashions have been full of this colour this season, Mrs Lipman said. Navy blue will also be a big colour, particularly in the navy and white combination, and of course the timeless combination of black and white will again be popular.
