S2OM overseas loan
A S2OM overseas loan will bo raised for four harbour boards engaged in container terminal development by the Development Finance Corporation. The loan proposal was announced this week by the Associate Minister of Finance (Mr Templeton). He said that the finance would be available for the Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, and Otago harbour boards on an “on-lend” basis from the National Provident Fund. A total of $35 M was raised for container development at the four ports. Mr Templeton said that the loan was necessary because of the vital Importance to New Zealand’s export trade of the uninterrupted development of the terminals, and the substantial capital investment required. The Lyttelton Harbour Board was unable to comment on what it would do with its share of the loan, as It had not received any details of the loan’s terms. ARRIVALS Alucom (7.35 a.in.), 5590.
