National Angus sale has $2404 average
IPA Palmerston North. ! Strong demand for quality! cattle was the feature of the! national Angus sale at Palm-! erston North yesterday. A total of 75 bulls sold for an average of §2404,1 well above the previous record of §2203 set at the! 1974 national sales. Last! i year’s average was a dis-1 appointing §1956. The top price of the day I was §12,000 paid by Lopdell ! Bros (Napier), for Trojan ■ 422 of Rangatira. This bull 'was offered by his breeders, i the Rangatira Farm Partneri ship (Te Karaka). Earlier in i the day, the bull had come ; fourth in his show class. ! The champion bull of the I show was Tadcaster Batler,
, shown by his breeders, E. H. •'and D. Parker (Matamata). I At auction, he fetched §7500, j to the bid of H. C. McCalllum (Kumeu). I A Pirinoa breeder, lan Tilson, had a great sale with I his pen of two bulls winning ! their class and later making ■§7ooo and §3200 at auction. ! The §7OOO bull was sold to ■ the Akitio Stud (Dannevirke). The most active buyers at the sale were Sisam and Son (Whakatane) who took home eight bulls at a cost of $lO,BOO.
