SERVICES (AUCKLAND AND CHRISTCHURCH) THESE ARE key appointments, as the Department of Health has adopted a regional organisation structure to prived comprehensive data-processing services for Hospital Boards and the Department. Maximum involvement of users is a high priority in the operation of the organisation. To achieve this aim, fully-integrated Data Centres are located at Auckland and Christchurch. Both centres will be concerned with the investigation of user requirements, and with the development, implementation and operation of nationwide systems. The applications under development include Admission/Discharge, Clinical Laboratory systems and Payroll. The two large DEC System-10 time sharing/ batch machines will be linked to public hospitals by an extensive communications network. Minicomputers are being installed at many user locations, in support of hospital laboratory and communications network functions. Reporting to the Director of Health EDP Services (in Wellington), the Regional Managers are totally responsible for all functions in the region. These functions include the development of systems for nationwide implementation, the operation of such systems, and a vital co-ordin-ation function between users and the DP Division of the Department. Within the policy guidelines laid down by the Director, the Regional Manager is responsible for developing policies for implementation by the Managers of Systems Development, Computer Operations and EDP Co-ordination, which will ensure the continuing provision of quality costeffective services, to users. These two appointments are of major importance in the success of this new development. REQUIREMENTS: * Proven ability in -the management of data processing functions, and the provision of costeffective quality services to users. * Wide experience in a large systems and telecommunications environment. * Capacity to develop, recommend and implement approved policies, which will result in a sounaly-based, user-responsive data processing organisation.
