New Christian World Service director
An induction service will be held in the Salvation Army Citadel on Sunday evening for tr.e new director of Christian World Services (the Rev. Brian Turner). Christian World Service is the overseas aid department of the National Council of Mr Turner is a Methodist, minister. He was born in Wellington and educated in Auckland. He served in the Glen Innes parish for four years. Since 1973 he has lived in Papua New Guinea, where for 18 months he taught social sciences at the Melanesian Institute. He said his new post
I would involve relating New i Zealand churches to areas of Christian World Service •'concern. This would include , Third World countries. It would also include arranging emergency funding. t Mr Turner succeeds Miss f.Pamela Gruber as director of Christian World Service. The preacher at his ini duction service will be the! i Rev. Robert Holland, from Shadyside Presbyterian i Church in Pennsylvania. Mr Holland has preached on radio in the United; : States and throughout Eng-1 : land and Scotland. He will( arrive in Christchurch on Saturday and will preach at one other service on Sunday.(
