PA Auckland A psychiatric nurse from Kingseat Hospital yesterday faced seven charges of striking or ill-treating mentally disordered patients under his care. Before Mr K. H. Mason, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Papakura was Denis Edmond Sheahan, aged 39, of Papakura. Sheahan elected trial by jury on all counts, and was remanded on bail without plea to August 30 for a depositions hearing. Four charges concern one male patient, whom the police allege the defendant struck twice and ill-treated twice. The police also allege that Sheahan ill-treated two other male patients under his care, and struck another.
