Parliaments diary
The annual report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tabled when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Members gave notice of six notices of motion. Ministers answered 14 questions. The Labour member for Mangere, Mr D. R. Lange, was found by the Speaker (Sir Roy Jack), not to have breached a Parliamentary Standing Order which outlaws unbecoming references to Parliament, in an address to Canterbury' University students last week. Members then continued debate on the committee stages of the Shop Trading Hours Bill, and at the 5.30 p.m. adjournment, 18 of the bill’s 26 clauses had been agreed to.
When the House resumed at 7.30 p.m. the Shop Trading Hours Bill was passed through its committee stages. The Fisheries Amendment Bill was given a third reading.
Debate on the National Housing Commission Amendment Bill was interrupted by the 10.30 pun. adjournment.
