French cafe for Arts Centre

Restaurant Sorbonne, the Arts Centre's first eating place, opened at 11 a.m. yesterday.

Occupying part of uhat used to be the university library, it will serve French food.

The menu will be different each week.

The restaurant will be open from II a.in. until midnight, and serve lunches, dinners, and suppers — the latter of particular interest to patrons of the nearby Court Theatre. At week-ends it will close at 9 p.m.

The next big task for the Arts Centre will be renting out a third of its space, which will become available at the end of the t ear when the Christchurch Technical Institute leaves.

40.000 sq. ft of space will be available, and so far firm offers have come for about 13,000 sq. ft.
