The Board, which is headquartered at 114 The Terrace, provides hospital services in the Wellington region covering that area south of Waikanae on the West Coast and the Rimutaka hills. Total staff exceeds 5500 and operating and capital expenditures are around $7O million per annum. The Board features decentralisation of authority and modem management practices. The position requites a person who is a qualified accountant or holds an appropriate University degree. He should preferably have a practical working knowledge of E.D.P. Systems and equipment, budgetary control, modem payroll systems and management accounting. The appointee will assist the Treasurer generally and deputise for him in his absence. He would also have his own specific areas of responsibility. In view of the Treasurer’s retirement in the near future the appointee would be in a favourable position to be considered for the Senior appointment. Conditions of employment in accordance with the Wellington Hospital ‘Board’s Clerical Workers’ Industrial Agreement, with commencing salary to be determined in line with qualifications and experience, up to $13,524 per annum plus Cost-of-Living Allowance. August 5. 1977. 2167 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE COMMISSION FOR THE FUTURE THE COMMISSION FOR THE FUTURE is now seeking to recruit an Executive Director who will be responsible for implementing its policy and executive decisions. The Executive Director will be supported by a team of investigating officers and secretariat staff and will be expected to be involved with their appointment. The Commission aims to develop a multi-disciplinary group with an imaginative approach to future studies. Staff will be expected to identify the options available to New Zealand, determine the significant issues, be involved in commissioning project work with externa) agencies, undertake investigational work themselves, initiate public debate by making information available to the appropriate people and collaborate closely with the staff of the New Zealand Planning Council. Applicants for the position of Executive Director should have: — A wide range of interests beyond their major qualifications. — The capacity for innovative thinking. — A practical knowledge of the operations of Government, the State Service and professional and private New Zealand organisations. — A familiarity with the Nev.’ Zealand scene and the direction in which it ■ is moving.
