Shipping News Container tug delayed
It appears likely that container ship number two will come and go at Lyttelton without the assistance of the new container tug Godley. The Godley was meant to be on hand to greet the first container ship, the ACT 2, on June 15. but it now appears that it will be yet another two weeks before she comes into service. The second container ship, the Jervis Bay. will arrive in port on Friday. The Lyttelton harbourmaster (Captain J. A. Barbour), who has just returned from conducting sea trials with the Godley in Otago Harbour, said yesterday that she was performing extremely well, but there were several minor details, such as paintwork and interior fittings, to be Completed. Further sea trials had also to be carried out, he said.
