TIMELESS & CLASSIC LINES
Fashion is by no means the property of
the young. In fact, it is
the more mature woman, with her social, domestic and, increasingly, her career responsibilities, who is the major purveyor of fashion designs. As the fashion retailers in Christchurch
have gradually started
to acknowledge this, a wider and more' in-
spiring range of garments has begun to fill the racks of fashion stores and boutiques,
and there are now a number of shops catering for outsize fashions only, making the latest fashions available for this market as well. All the fashions
shown on these pages are in size 14, and
most of the shops supplying them have similar stvles ranging from size 10 to size 20. and sometimes beyond. The House of Raymonde, the Regent . Boutique, Rowena Gowns, van Roll, and Beaths are all known for a good selection of styles and sizes. On this page, three effective designs for daywear are shown: the two garments in the photograph on the left are from the new summer range by van Roli and the striking and elegant dress and cape on the right is from the winter range at the Regent Boutique. At left: Two polyester summer outfits with simple designs, yet effective looks from
van Roii, the garment on the left is in red and white, vertically striped polyester styled in a shirt-dress, and on the right, is a black and white horizontally striped flared skirt and short-sleeved, loose top.
At right: a Trevira and pure wool mixture for winter warmth in this superbly style outfit from Southwell. It has a bright red Trevira bodice, topped by a woolly polo neck, on a green, white and black tartan wool skirt, worn underneath a beautifully cut matching tartan cape which is lined with the same bright red Trevira. (From the Regent Boutique).
