Drips in court
Damage at Queen Elizabeth II Park is light considering the size of the complex and the velocity' of the wind, according to the park manager (Mr R. E. J. Goulden).
Water has leaked on to the squash courts and a 6m portion of the safety fence at the top of the seating in the main stadium has blown down. “The odd bucket or two has been put in the court but people can still play squash,” said Mr Goulden. Water entering the squash courts had seeped through from the grandstand above, which is designed to flex in high
winds. Weaknesses in some joints caused hairline cracks to form and the water seeped through, although the building was structurally sound, said Mr Goulden.
