Reference books Sir, — I am wanting to purchase a good reference book on New Zealand and wondered if you could advise what you would buy so that it will help us with your New Zealand Touragrams. — Yours, etc., Mrs V. P. GRAHAM. “Gladiator” recommends either Reed’s “Placenames of New Zealand” or Wise’s “New Zealand Guide.” — Travel Editor. Appreciative visitor Sir, — I recently returned from a four-week holiday in your very beautiful country. I have travelled in many countries and my impression is that New Zealanders have performed a spectacular task, even if only taking into consideration the road network through the two islands. At every turn in the South Island one had the impression of just coming out of a well-kept park. I found New Zealanders very 7 friendly, polite, and always helpful. There was sophistication in the towns, especially in the North Island. It was very satisfying to find that most of the people we met were taking time to see and enjoy their beautiful country. My only regret w 7 as that my work permitted only a short tour (we covered over 4000 miles) of a very,
very beautiful country, which I sincerely hope to be able to visit again. — Yours, etc., EUGENIA P. OTVOS, Oshawa, Ontario.
