Marching chairman

Mrs Jan Richards, of Christchurch, has been reappointed chairman of the New Zealand Marching Association’s executive, moving into her third term in the senior administrative post.

The seven-strong executive includes only three from the North Island—lncluding a former

long-serving chairman, the Rev. J. B. Chambers—and the other Christchurch member is Mr Stewart Marshall, a veteran administrator. The president. Mrs Norma Mangos, of Nelson, was formerly Dominion chief judge, and the treasurer is Mrs Vai Hood, also of Nelson. Other officers elected were: Secretary, .Mr A. E. Mason '(Palmerston North): Dominion chief judge. Mr J. H. UOT'd (Wellington); executive, Mesdames Richards and M. Bennett (Blenheim), and Messrs D. McDonald (Dunedin). Marshall, Chambers, N. McKenzie (Wallington) and P. Phillips (Auckland).

Boxing.—Carlos Monzon, of Argentina, will defend his world middle-weight boxing title in Monte Carlo on July’ 30 against Rodrigo Valdes, of Columbia. The bout, set for 3ulv 9, was postponed when Monzon injured ‘an eye in training.
