Evangelist has $23M in fund
NZPA-Reuter I; Charlotte, North Carolina An arm of the Rev. Billy ■ Graham’s ministry has .amassed almost S23M over (the last seven years in land, stocks, bonds, and cash holdings in a fund that has been shielded from public view, according to a newspaper in Charlotte, North Carolina. The "Charlotte Observer” i reports that the existence of ■ the fund — the World Eva- ' ngelism and Christian Education Fund of Dallas, Texas — had never been men■j tinned in previous inter- ■ l views with Mr Graham and I hi: associates on the organ-) •isation’s holdings. I The fund supports such; 'causes as the Campus Cru[sade for Christ, the Fellow- [ ship of Christian Athletes, [the Baptist World Alliance, land Young Life. I It was not included in a I list of Graham Organisations compiled by the “Charlotte f bserver” last year which a (Graham associate had told the newspaper was com;plete. Mr Graham told the newspaper that between 80 and 90 per cent of the fund’s receipts came from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the main arm of the Graham ministry. He said that the fund, 'founded in 1970, has not [been publicised, in an effort 'to avoid being inundated; with requests for help.
