NZPA-Reuter London The brilliant West Indian cricketer, Vivian Richards, topped tlie 1000-iun mark for the season when he hammered a memorable 241 not out i'or Somerset in an English county cricket match at Bristol. The 25-year-old star from Antigua batted for 289 minutes, hitting four sixes and 33 fours in an innings interrupted by lain on four occasions. It was his highest score in county cricket and enabled Somerset to force a draw against Gloucestershire.
The only other championship game to produce a result as rain disrupted most matches was at Chelmsford, where Essex beat Surrey by 121 runs.
