State’s face to change
In an article which appeared in “The Press” of; Tuesday about Christchurch j buildings of the 19305, it' was incorrectly said that the; exterior of the State theatre building would be left intact. The owners of the building, the International Importing Company, intend to give the building an entirely new exterior at the same time as the interior is converted into shops and, offices. The managing i director of the International' Importing Company (Mr J.; A. Schneideman) says that his company intends to give' the building “a 1977 look.” I The building’s new ex-! terior has been designed by' the Christchurch firm of. Warren and Mahoney with 1 some similarities in style to the D.M.S. building on the opposite corner. It is believed that the remodelling [of the State building, inside land out, will be completed by the end of November.
