BEST BETS
Auckland GOLAN (Race ♦), br g 5 yrs. by Ruddington — Blue ChamSagne; trained at Pukekohe y H. Wadham. Has won by wide margins at his last two attempts and although he has to lump 63kg tomorrow he should prove too strong. Has previously won at Ellerslie and a second win looks in order. Manawatu STEP IN LINE (R»ee S), b g, 6 yrs by Ruddington—Miss Virginia; trained at Awapunl by A. S. Kaye. Ran awav with the Wanganui steeplechase on Monday and meets a weaker field tomorrow. At home in heavy conditions and looks well placed to win again.
Nelson SPOT LUCK (Race 7), b g. 6 yrs, by Tempest Hanover —Maida Fortune: trained at Leeston by T. M. McMillan. Found conditions against him at Ashburton last Saturday, and if footing reasonably firm should be too good for this field. Is most promising.
