Narrow billiards loss for Foster

A rare defeat for the Riccarton No. 2, Graham Foster, prevented his team from drawing level with Hornby at the top of the Canterbury A grade billiards competition. In a low scoring match, Foster lost by five points to Trevor Thompson (Post Office). It was the first game Foster had lost on his home table for more than two years. Bill Adams (Kaiapoi) and Ken Giles (Richmond A) had the best scores of the round. Adams seored 333 points in beating Roy Taylor (New Brighton W.M.C.) and Giles managed only one point less tn easily accounting for Eric Martin (Woolston B), who had had a surprise victory over Brian Kirkness the previous week.
