Gifts, letters support law student

PA Auckland The Auckland University law student who brought a successful injunction against the Tramways’ Union, Mr C. L. Harder, has received about $lOOO in cash contributions to help him with his court costs. The biggest gift, of $lOO. was from a UkrainianCanadian who stipulated that Mr Harder use the money for his own personal'expenses. All the money received to help with court costs has been handed to Mr Harder’s solicitors to be put into a trust fund Money is still coming in at the rate of about $5O a day. Mr Harder said that he appreciated the offerings and letters — about 200 — that he had received. “It has made it easier.” he said. All the letters had been supportive and that the biggest number of letters and donations had come from pensioners. The biggest single amount for court costs, $9O, had come from five families. Mr Harder said that his costs would be about $3OOO. Even if the union pays its costs of $BOO, he still has to find about $l2OO. “But I will cross that bridge when I come to it.” he said. It was unlikely that there would be any money left over. If there was it would go to a worthy cause, Mr Harder said.
