Building permits down
PA Wellington The number of building permits issued in March this year was down 19.4 per cent on March, 1976, said the Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris). Permits for 2775 new houses and flats worth $60,600,000 had been issued last March, a decrease in number of 19.4 per cent and a decrease in value of 13.8 per cent. The number of dwelling units authorised for the 12 months ended March 31, was 30,071, compared with 32,189 for the same period in 1976 and 33,101 for 1975. The value of new dwell--Ing permits was $632,200,000 for the 12' months ended March 31, compared with $593,400,000 and $546,600,000 for similar periods ending 1976 and 1975 respectively. For new building other than houses and flats, permits valued at $35,500,000 were issued in March this year compared with $36,600,000 in March, 1976.
