Ski Accessories

Gloves and goggles or sunglasses are the most important items for protection in a skier’s list of accessories. They are an absolute must, and should be worn at all times. A selection of some of this season’s hats, gloves, goggles and sunglasses is shown in the photographs above. Eyes are very sensitive and must be treated with care. The glare off the snow, even if it is not in bright sunlight, can hurt your eyes and, at the end of a day’s ski ing, eyes can be very sore if they have not been protected. Goggles not only provide this protection, but will also warm your face in cold and windy conditions, whether it is snowing or not. If you wear prescription glasses, there are goggles available to cover them without hindering vision or causing fogging of lenses. Closely woven, all-wool mittens have been found best for extremely cold conditions on the slopes, but for better grip on ski poles and tows, gloves are the answer. Ski hats are many and varied, with lots of new colours and styles to complete the range of sporty woollen knits and synthetics. They must be long enough to cover the ears and forehead — body heat loss is greater there.
