"FATHER BROWN” I am astonished that TV2 has put the “Fatner Brown” stories (13 parts) on at 10.45 p ,m. on Sundays. These stories by Chesterton are classics of detective fiction, and enjoyed by many people of my generation, and could have great interest to a younger generation who don’t read so much. I am sure that with Kenneth More as Father Brown, they will be superbly retold. The “Listener” gives us an interesting two pages on Chesterton, and offers a special caption to the “Father Brown” series, but at 10.45 on a Sunday night, it is just ridiculous. It seems that those who select the prime viewing time prefer to put in crime stories with little or no plot, and with people screaming around in highpowered cars, clobbering evervone in sight- — VA V.
